What is the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA)?
The Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) is a nationally recognised award for schools that work closely with the families of their pupils. It helps us strengthen partnerships with parents and carers, improve communication, and create more opportunities for families to be involved in school life. The assessment is carried out by an external advisor.
| Our Commitment At James Cambell Primary School, we believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential for every child’s success. The LPPA helps us formalise and enhance these vital relationships. |
What does the school have to do to achieve the award?
To achieve the LPPA, James Cambell Primary School will be working towards meeting nine evidence-based objectives:
- Demonstrate a commitment to work towards achieving the LPPA.
2. Make and implement effective plans to achieve and maintain the LPPA.
3. Show that the school is a welcoming, communicative and friendly place for parents.
4. Promote the awareness and participation of all groups of parents and carers in supporting their children’s learning and developing their own. The school will also hold and promote a range of opportunities and events for joint parent-and-child participation.
5. Provide a good induction for all new parents and carers.
6. Provide parents/carers with relevant and user-friendly guidance and information to help them support their children’s learning.
7. Produce and implement parent-friendly policies to strengthen home–school links and improve attendance, punctuality, progress and positive participation.
8. Provide strong support for parents as their children move through or leave the school.
9. Summarise our achievements against the LPPA objectives and outline our future plans.
Why does this matter?
Research shows that when parents and carers are involved in school life, children do better and achieve more. Parents, carers and family members are the most important influences in a child’s life. By being involved in school activities, families show their children that education matters — and that home and school are working together to support them.
| What difference will it make for families at James Cambell Primary School? Working towards this award will help us make our partnership with families even stronger. We already have great relationships with our parents, and this process will help us develop and celebrate what we do even further. |
