{"id":5288,"date":"2019-11-08T07:02:35","date_gmt":"2019-11-08T07:02:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jamescambell.com\/?page_id=5288"},"modified":"2022-01-31T19:59:14","modified_gmt":"2022-01-31T19:59:14","slug":"curriulum-rationale-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.jamescambell.com\/?page_id=5288","title":{"rendered":"CURRIULUM RATIONALE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>What is a Curriculum Rationale?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When a school has a rationale for its curriculum, it means that everyone involved with the school can answer the questions \u2018What is it we want for these children?\u2019 and \u2018What are we going to do to achieve it?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why is a Curriculum Rationale necessary?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important to ensure that everyone within the school is clear about what they are aiming to achieve through the curriculum, which is the totality of a child\u2019s experiences.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At James Cambell, our priority is in providing our pupils with the aspirations and outcomes that enable them to become successful, inquisitive adults &#8211; equipped with a wealth of knowledge, competencies and experiences. \u00a0Therefore, we have developed a creative and thematic curriculum, which includes the teaching of subject knowledge and skills as part of a wider topic-based curriculum. Pupils are able to make useful links between areas of learning and consolidate skills while being fully engaged. Our curriculum is progressive, which builds upon and expands previous learning. Curriculum experiences extend and deepen understanding of different topics whilst developing pupils\u2019 cultural capital.
